The Higher the Magnification - The More Detail You'll See

Magnification is the ability of your microscope to make small objects seem larger. As the magnification increases the area being viewed will be decrease is size but the detail of the area being viewed will improve.

Amscope microscopes come with multiple magnifications to aid you in finding the proper magnification for viewing each specimen.

Camera Connection Types

When comparing 2.0 and 3.0 there are few major differences. First the transfer rates. USB 2.0 offers transfer rates of 480 Mbps and USB 3.0 offers transfer rates of 4.8 Gbps - that's 10 times faster.

Camera Resolution

The most important factor in ensuring successful microscopic imaging is choosing the appropriate optics and camera for your application that gives you more data and higher image quality. When selecting a microscope camera, it is best to base your decision on the most important requirements for your microscopic observation.

Key Features

  • Super speed 18MP (4912x3684 pixels) USB 3.0 color digital camera with 0.5X reduction lens and 0.01mm calibration slide
  • Phase contrast microscope for viewing live cell cycle, no staining required to view the slide
  • Four phase contrast lenses and one bright field Abbe condenser on one disk, fast and easy to switch, no condenser change needed
  • Large double layer mechanical stage and coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs
  • Replaceable 3W LED transmitted light with adjustable intensity

The M837L series compound microscope is a class leader offering professional features at an affordable price. The trinocular viewing head is customizable and is equipped with a dedicated photo port which works simultaneously with both eyepieces. This phase-contrast model includes a specialized turret condenser and objective lenses used to enhance details in low-contrast specimens such as live cells and microorganisms.

Viewing Head

The trinocular viewing head has a comfortable 45° incline for viewing while seated or standing, and can be swiveled 360°. Ocular spacing can be easily customized using sliding interpupillary adjustment. Dual diopters allow both eyepieces to be focused independently. The trinocular photo-port adds a dedicated mounting tube for cameras. The 23mm tube is height-adjustable to fine-tune the focus to match the eyepieces. Its simul-focal design allows simultaneous use with both eyepieces so no switching is necessary.

Optics

This model includes four brightfield objective lenses and four phase-contrast objective lenses. The brightfield lenses provide a magnification range from 40X to 1000X when used with the standard 10X eyepieces, while the phase-contrast lenses provide a 100X to 1000X range. Additional 25X eyepieces are included to expand the maximum magnification to 2500X.

Objective Lenses

Magnification Corrections NA Immersion Medium Cover-glass Thickness

Specimen Stage

The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level. A convenient lever grouped with the left-side focus knobs can be used to lock and unlock the coarse focus adjustment to prevent damage to the lenses and specimen.

LED Illumination

The LED sub-stage lighting provides cool, energy-efficient illumination. The light-source is daylight balanced to produce natural colors. The Abbe light condenser has a high 1.25 numerical aperture for oil-immersion, and an iris diaphragm to optimize contrast and depth-of-field. The condenser holder uses rack-and-pinion height adjustment for precision control.

A sub-stage mirror is included as an alternate light source when electricity is not available. The mirror can be mounted on top of the illuminator’s field lens to direct ambient light into the condenser.

Phase Contrast

A phase-contrast kit is included with a 5-position turret condenser and 4 achromatic phase-contrast objective lenses. Phase contrast is used to reveal detail in indistinct objects, such as unstained cells and microorganisms that would otherwise appear invisible. By using a combination of specialized objective lenses and a modified light condenser, these invisible objects can be visualized by manipulating variations in phase. This turret condenser allows you to easily rotate through the brightfield and four phase-contrast settings (10X, 20X, 40X, 100X). Each phase-contrast setting has a centerable annulus for proper alignment. Each of the phase-ring equipped objective lenses has achromatic corrections for improved color and resolution.

Digital Imaging

The included 18MP camera and software allow you to preview and record photos and videos on your computer. The camera attaches to your computer using a high-speed USB 3.0 connection. Our professional software for Windows provides a wide assortment of capture and photo-editing functions including color correction, time-lapse capture, and a full complement of measuring tools. Cutting-edge features such as real-time auto-stitching and focus-stacking add new dimensions to imaging. A lite version of our software is available for Mac and Linux with essential functionality for capturing photos and videos.

    Omax M837ZL microscope with Phase

My first order was cancelled by the system and money refunded but the second order arrived complete and safely. It is probably value for money although I am a bit disappointed that the brightfield condenser of the phase plate is not properly centred and can not be adjusted to centre. The video, described as "super speed", is not smooth, more like time lapse, even at the fastest FPS. Overall a reasonable bit of kit for the home hobbiest, or at the lower magnifications for the professional lab. But for the professional wanting to use 100x objectives I would recommend looking for better optics. Some fundamental specifications were omitted from the on-line description, e.g. objective specs, which should be checked before purchase.
